@Danette You can find pricing info on some of the solar kits on-line. All you have to do is do a search for the specific product or for: Solar panel kits. Then that will give you a few manufacturers and some sellers of those products. You then can look up that information on their websites. But remember some solar system kit prices depend on how many panels they are going to have in it and what type of inverters they have and if they include any controllers how they have the system configured.

At least that is what I have found out from my personal experience in searching on-line for Solar Panel kits and Residential Solar Electricity Systems.
you can find some good systems at alphasolar.com

Also you have to remember that Prices vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and seller to seller of these systems. Also price depends on the size of the system you would like to install, or whether they are off grid.

I hope this helps.

Really enjoy living off the grid. I have not had a bank account for 4 years, I have never felt more free. I do still use cash, albeit very seldom. My savings account is a box of silver/gold bullion. I sometimes use prepay credit cards (emergency/holidays only) But I get by day to day without a bank account just fine. No gas/electric bills, no water bills, no council tax, no rent, no mortgage. Off the grid means no worries. Why worry about a bank account? Banks are the cause of most of the worlds problems, that is why I chose off grid living.

Really enjoy living of the grid. I lost my job in 2008. It took 3 yrs landing another (good) one. Unemployment BARELY kept a roof over my head. Eviction and cutoff notices out the ying-yang. NEVER AGAIN! Truely a humbling experience. I ended up relocating to another State for work. Couldn't see paying rent, electric, water, sewage, trash pickup...etc. That's almost 1 check. Ended up living in my car. Got a gym membership for $10 a month (gotta wash), a storage bin (for clothes) $50, Coleman camper stove (for cooking), lawn chair, power supply that plugs into my cigarette lighter and a cooler. Wonderful experience. My only regret was telling a few friends/family members. Glad I never told people on the job..whewww. Gues my Army days finally came in handy GO ARMY! Anywho...now I'm really embracing the thought of living off the grid. Been saving my duckets.. Problem is locating land( on the East coast) 1-1.2hrs away from a urban city. P.S. just got my first solar power products book. EXCITED!

Very cool this living off the grid! I suppose you have a new rcepest for how much electricity your home appliances use! I added a 12 volt battery backup system to light my house in case of power failure. It uses motorhome lights in unobtrusive places on the walls and ceilings. I got rid of the automotive bulbs and put in LED light arrays inside. $20 bucks each but my amps went from 6 down to 2. The lights last 3 times longer on the same batteries. Being a smart*ss I like to vacuum my house during power outages!off the grid is great.

Great start on living off the grid. Back a couple of years ago, you suggested always dumping the batteries along with the turbines, so that the load was constant. So I was curious why this setup was different in that respect. The other question is in re-guard to the outback GVFX, mine when it goes into equalize mode, causes my charge controller to see the batteries at more than full charge 28.8 volts, and starts dumping the bulk charge to the batteriess, to the dump load.Figured it out recently, so back to off grid living.
